Brain Health

Anxiety, Depression, Addictions, Bipolar disease, Alzheimer’s, Brain fog, Chronic fatigue syndrome, Memory loss, ADD, ADHD, Parkinson's, OCD, etc., have become the new normal of our modern lives. But does it really have to be that way? The answer is NO. Chemical imbalances in the brain can lead to various mental disorders, which can be corrected by optimizing nutrition, along with various lifestyle strategies. Mental health diet can not only fuel the brain and make you feel better but is critical for the functioning of most systems of the body. The unprecedented changes in our diet intake over the years is the major reason for the epidemics of brain disorder. It's crucial for anybody dealing with these disorders to eat a good mental health diet to reverse chronic signs and symptoms.

The question here is to ask yourself, what is causing the symptoms to show up in the first place?

Brain symptoms don’t always show up as Dementia, Alzheimer's, ADD, or depression. Sometimes, less than optimally working brains can show up in different ways like:

  • Poor sleep
  • Tired-yet-wired feeling
  • Constant need for stimulants like caffeine to keep going
  • Constant need for alcohol for calming effects
  • Swings in mood and energy levels
  • Easily forgetting things to do, or names
  • Mental and emotional numbness
  • Brain-fog - the inability to focus and be attentive
  • Addictions or eating disorders
  • Unexplained anger
  • Behavioral problems

If you have any of the above symptoms, you may not be living with the best brain health. The brain is the most powerful organ of the human body, and it governs many critical functions that help you thrive in life.

Conventional healthcare focuses on treating your brain using medications and psychotherapy. Do we really need more antidepressants, stimulants, antipsychotics, and memory medications? These medications come with a whole lot of side effects- think of sexual dysfunction, fatigue, insomnia, loss of mental abilities, nausea, and weight gain.

Chemical imbalances in the brain lead to problems. The real question to ask is why are those chemicals out of balance and how do we get them back to their natural state of balance? The drugs don't cure problems but they just cover the symptoms for a short while.

All systems of your body are interconnected. You are one whole person, and all the pieces of your biology and your genetic code interact with your environment (including the food you eat) to determine how sick or well you are at the moment. The body and the mind are connected as well. The brain is not a disembodied organ, sitting on top of your shoulder. It responds to everything that we do,  feel, and think. Factors like exercise, sleep, diet, environmental toxins, stressors of daily life, all of these things influence our microbiome and everything influences the brain. So, we really have to think of brain health as something we can fix by fixing the imbalances in the body, to fix the brain.
